Annual Kids’ Fishing Day
Hosted by the Carson City Host Lions Club! The event is free and provides a good opportunity to introduce kids under the age of 12 to fishing and conservation. Volunteers will be available to answer questions and to help kids in need of assistance with fishing. Participants are encouraged to bring their own rod and reel. A limited number of rods and reels will be available for use by kids under 12 who don't have their own. Rods, reels, bait and tackle will be provided until supplies run out.
Baily Pond is located in the southeast area of the Carson City Fairgrounds in Fuji Park and is named after Lion C.K. Baily, who was instrumental in the development of the pond. It is about 15 feet deep, has a fresh water in-flow from Clear Creek and is stocked with rainbow trout by the Nevada Department of Wildlife. There is a handicap accessible floating fishing pier and a nearby parking area. There are also handicap portable restrooms nearby.
Fishing licenses are required for anyone 12 years of age or older. The limit is two fish. Licenses are available at local retail outlets or online here through the Nevada Division of Wildlife.
Kids’ Fishing Day has been hosted by the Carson City Host Lions Club since 2010. For more information about the Carson City Lions, check out the Club’s Facebook page here.
