Phoenix
French synth-pop rockers Phoenix, Grammy-award winners and festival favorites, are bringing their Gallic-cool sound to Reno's Grand Theatre.
The quartet formed as a garage band performing covers in the 1990s, gaining a steady following before releasing their own original work to much critical acclaim. When they signed to Paris-based Source Records they met fellow labelmates Air, who invited them to perform as their backing band on several UK TV appearances. The result of the exposure to Air's electronic sound, plus collaborations with Daft Punk, informed the band's penchant for disco rhythms, a sound which still resonates on their most recent album release, Ti Amo.
Blending electronic dance beats with a grunge-rock aesthetic, Phoenix have forged a unique place in popular culture, their songs featured in movies, TV shows, and even video games. Now touring the globe, Phoenix will touch down at the Grand Theatre for one night of cool Euro-beats.
