Making Life Accessible

Nevada Museum of Art, Making Life Accessible
Event Description:

Much of life is made up of social interactions. For individuals with visual or social skills deficits, these interactions can be a source of anxiety, or they can be missing out on them all together. Social interactions consist of both visual and verbal cues that we react to in real-time. The Machine Perception Lab aims to develop wearable devices that can digest a social interaction and provide feedback to the user in real-time. Specific projects toward this aim include the recognition of attributes, expressions, and emotions of faces as well as the recognition of rhetorical questions and sarcasm.

Join Dr. Emily Hand as she discusses the active research projects in her lab that contribute to the overall goal of making life accessible for individuals with visual and/or social skills deficits.
